General Publishing Principles

Journal of Academic Studies is a quarterly published journal.  It is distributed to libraries determined by the editorial board, international index organizations, journal stands and interested subscribers.  An annual index and title page are bound in the last issue of each volume.

Objectives of the journal:

Maintaining close links with social scientific studies produced at an international level especially across the Eurasian geography, and providing a means for informing relevant scientists, experts and interested people of these studies.

Content of the journal:

Journal of Academic Studies is a social science journal.  It welcomes submissions of academic papers in all branches of social science, in consideration of the following publication principles.

The criteria for papers submitted for consideration of publication:

1.      An original research paper that greatly contributes to and fills a gap in its subject matter

2.      Any study considering new perspectives and developments in social sciences, analyzing previous studies through in-depth bibliographic research

General consideration of publication:

1.      Articles submitted for consideration of publication are subject to peer review.  The editorial board takes into consideration whether a submitted article follows the general order of objective, clear subject, follows the scope, has good presentation and follows the grammatical rules of English.  The appropriate articles are then sent to two referees known for their academic reputation in their respective areas.  Upon their decision, the article will be published in the journal, or rejected for publication.  The reports of the referees are kept confidential and stored in the archives for five years.  If the two referees disagree in their decision on whether or not to publish an article, the article is sent to a third party for final decision.

2.      Accuracy of facts and all opinions expressed in the articles are the responsibility of the authors, not of the journal or its editor.

3.      The authors and referees will receive payment no later than one month after the specific journal issue is published.  The editorial board decides the amount of payment, both for the authors and the referees.

The language of the journal:

The primary language of the journal is Turkish, yet upon the decision of the editorial board articles in English may also be published as long as they do not extend beyond one-third the length of the journal.  Summaries of Turkish language articles are provided in English, and summaries of English-language articles are provided in Turkish.

Rules of presentation, organization and style:

The submitted manuscripts should be arranged in the following order of presentation:

1.      A title, in capitalized letters, no more than ten (10) words.  The title should be chosen from words and terms that best describe the content of the manuscript.

2.      The author's first name, last name (in capital letters), personal title, affiliation, full postal address and telephone and fax numbers (e-mail address optional).

3.      A summary of the article.  This summary should be in Turkish for English-language articles and in English for Turkish-language articles

4.      The study should have an introduction, clear arguments and ideas, and analysis of the arguments and ideas.  It should end with a conclusion that includes the contribution of the article to the subject matter under discussion.

5.      Each study may include a bibliography at the end.

6.      Main body of the text: The article should not be longer than fifteen (15) pages.  The manuscript should be organized under proper titles, subtitles and section headings.  If the manuscripts include figures, drawings or maps, they should be drawn on separate pages in black ink on good quality paper, or chart printouts should be obtained. Each drawing, map or figure should be numbered in the order with which they are referred to in the text.

7.      The articles must be written double spaced with fonts Times New Roman, size 12
